Roustabout Induction Course a Great Success

Our first Roustabout Induction Course was held in the second week of February. The three day programme involved trainees learning how to write JHAs, identify hazards associated with working on a drill rig, inspecting tubulars and connecting them to elevators.
All trainees developed confidence during the programme and were able to master the roles/responsibilities associated with being a Roustabout.
Some of the feedback from our first course:
"I gained confidence and thoroughly enjoyed it"
"Couldn’t imagine working as a Roustabout without it"
"Great course, I feel very confident going to the new workforce (sic)"
"Well done guys"

ERGT Trainers in Japan
Standing in front of the Shinka 6500 deep sea submersible.
Last year ERGT designed and supplied a two-seater floating helicopter underwater escape training (HUET) simulator for the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC). Working with JAMSTEC personnel at their facility, ERGT staff used the simulator to conduct training in helicopter underwater escape. They also provided training in sea survival, smoke escape, facility abandonment and first response fire fighting. The trained personnel will be working on JAMSTEC’s amazing deep-sea scientific drilling vessel Chikyu.
The Chikyu is capable of drilling up to 7000 metres into the sea floor towards the earth’s mantle and seismogenic zone. The research conducted by the Chikyu will include such issues as earthquakes, environmental changes, global changes and unexplored marine life. The Chikyu has also recently been involved in Woodside hydrocarbons exploration projects off the west coast of Africa and north Western Australia.
