COMMONLY KNOWN AS: JHA Training

Duration: 0.5 days

DESIGNED FOR:
This course is designed for personnel who are involved applying basic risk control processes, such as Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) or Job Safety Analysis (JSA), at a mine site or industrial facility.

PRE-REQUISITE: None

DESCRIPTION:
This course involves trainees identifying hazards, assessing risk, identifying unacceptable risk, implementing risk treatments, and completing recording records.

CONTENT:
It is essential that competence be demonstrated throughout the duration of the course:

  • Explain the purpose of the risk management process/methods
  • Explain the risk management process relevant to their workplace
  • Access safety systems information relevant to their workplace
  • Use relevant reporting and recording procedures
  • Proactively identify hazards
  • Take action in response to risks.

ELEMENTS OF COMPETENCY:

MNMC205A/01 Identify hazards
MNMC205A/02 Assess risk and identify unacceptable risk
MNMC205A/03 Identify, analyse and implement risk treatments
MNMC205A/04 Complete records and reports

ASSESSMENT:
Trainees learning outcomes will be assessed using direct observation, oral and/or written questions, and/or use of a workbook, and practical exercises as appropriate. Trainees will be required to demonstrate competence through a practical scenario simulating the completion of a Job Hazard Analysis form.

CERTIFICATION:
On successful completion of this Unit of Competency, trainees will be issued with a Statement of Attainment in MNMC205A Conduct Local Risk Assessment .

DELIVERY METHOD:
3 hours of classroom theory PowerPoint presentations, including audio-visual material, practical desktop activities and discussion.
1 hour of practical activities involving the use a Job Hazard Analysis form.
