COMMONLY KNOWN AS: FTMI
DURATION: 3 days.
DESIGNED FOR:
Personnel who will be expected to respond to an emergency situation in an onshore environment as part of an emergency response team.
PRE-REQUISITES/CO-REQUISITES: None
DESCRIPTION:
This course has been designed by ERGT combining several Units of Competency. In this course trainees will be given the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively respond to a range of emergency situations they may encounter in an onshore facility through a number of simulated scenarios.
CONTENT:
It is essential that competence be demonstrated throughout the duration of the course:
Days 1 to 3:
PUAFIR207B Operate Breathing Apparatus Open Circuit + PUAFIR201B Prevent Injury:
- Appropriately conduct pre-donning tests
- Correctly don breathing apparatus
- Operate breathing apparatus
- Move in conditions or reduced visibility
- Follow breathing apparatus emergency procedures
- Ensure organisation’s procedures are followed
- Correctly remove breathing apparatus
- Return breathing apparatus to operational status.
PUAFIR202B Respond to Isolated/Remote Structure Fire:
- Identify signs of structural collapse
- Apply fire fighting techniques
- Select and use appropriate protective clothing
- Select and use of fire fighting equipment
- Implement actions at the incident to avoid the risk of injury.

ASSESSMENT:
Trainees will be assessed against the learning outcomes using direct observation; oral and/or written questions; and/or use of a workbook; and practical exercises as appropriate.
CERTIFICATION:
On successful completion of this course trainees will be issued with the following Statements of Attainment:

DELIVERY METHOD:
8 hours of classroom theory PowerPoint presentations, including audio-visual material, desktop activities and discussion.
16 hours of practical components using fire fighting equipment in a range of work simulated scenarios.
