DESIGNED FOR:
Personnel are required to follow OH&S procedures within their workplace. These personnel may also be required to provide the initial response to an incident involving the use of basic fire fighting equipment (such as a fire extinguisher) and first aid techniques.
PRE-REQUISITES: None
DESCRIPTION:
This unit specifies the competency required to work safely on a civil construction site adhering to OH&S policies and procedures—emergency procedures, basic risk assessment, basic first aid and use of basic fire fighting equipment.

ASSESSMENT:
Assessment of underpinning knowledge will be by way of oral questioning. Trainees will also be required to demonstrate competence through practical scenarios simulating the use of first aid and basic fire fighting techniques.
CERTIFICATION:
On successful completion of this Unit of Competency trainees will be issued with a Statement of Attainment in BCCCM1001C Follow OH&S Policies & Procedures.
DELIVERY METHOD:
3 hours of classroom theory PowerPoint presentations, including audio-visual material, practical desktop activities and discussion.
1 hour of practical activities involving the use of basic fire fighting & first aid equipment.
