DURATION: 0.5 days

DESIGNED FOR:
Personnel who may come into contact with, or are required to handle household chemical waste as part of the daily workplace responsibilities.

PRE-REQUISITES: None

DESCRIPTION:
This course aims to provide the skills and knowledge required for product identification, handling chemical waste, personal protection, and spill control.

CONTENT:
It is essential that competence be demonstrated throughout the duration of the course:

  • Government Departments of assistance
  • Handling Chemicals using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Receiving Chemicals from the Public
  • Identify Household Chemicals
  • Correct Storage of Chemicals
  • Spill Control and Chemicals Exposure.

ASSESSMENT:
Assessment of underpinning knowledge will be by way of oral questioning and written assessment. Practical assessment in the completion of a variety of tasks involving household chemicals.

CERTIFICATION:
On successful completion of this Unit of Competence trainees will be issued with a Certificate of Training in Household Chemical Waste Awareness.

DELIVERY METHOD:
2 hours of classroom theory PowerPoint presentations, including audio-visual material, practical desktop activities and discussion.
2 hours of practical components to familiarise trainees with relevant PPE and handling procedures for dealing with household chemical waste.
