COMMONLY KNOWN AS: Helideck Fire Fighting
DURATION: 1 day
DESIGNED FOR:
Personnel working in support of helicopter operations at a remote location or specialised helideck landing facility. In the event of an incident personnel would undertake a front line role in rescue operations and damage control.

DESCRIPTION:
In a typical scenario, the trainee would facilitate the safe loading and unloading of personnel and cargo prior to or at the conclusion of a helicopter operation. With the occurrence of an emergency landing or aborted take-off the person would provide essential rescue and containment services.
CONTENT:
It is essential that competence be demonstrated throughout the duration of the course:
- Ensure that incident responses are in accordance with prescribed company procedures
- Correctly use incident response equipment (where required)
- Safely recover an individual and others affected by the incident, and afford priority in the actions taken
- Ensure actions taken do not inhibit incident response effectiveness or further contribute to the incident
- Create appropriate documentation including reports, journal entries, logs and/or clearances are completed in accordance with procedures.

ASSESSMENT:
Trainees learning outcomes will be assessed using direct observation, oral and/or written questions, and/or use of a workbook, and practical exercises as appropriate.
CERTIFICATION:
On successful completion of this unit of competency trainees will be issued with a Statement of Attainment in PMAOMIR302B Respond to a Helideck Incident.
Note: Trainees unable to meet course pre-requisites will ONLY be issued with a Certificate of Training and will be unable to participate in some practical scenarios.
DELIVERY METHOD:
3 hours of classroom theory PowerPoint presentations, including audio-visual material, practical desktop activities and discussion.
5 hours of practical components using fire-fighting equipment in a range of simulated emergency response scenarios.
