COMMONLY KNOWN AS: Vehicle Rescue

DURATION: 2 days

DESIGNED FOR:
Personnel who are required to perform a road accident rescue within a team.

PRE-REQUISITES:

PUASAR001B Participate in rescue operation
PUAEME002C Manage Injuries at emergency incident
PUAEME001B Provide Emergency Care
PUAFIR201B Prevent Injury

DESCRIPTION:
This unit of competency allows personnel to undertake road accident rescue operations as a member of a rescue team.

CONTENT:
It is essential that competence be demonstrated throughout the duration of the course:

  • Apply safe work practices in rescue operations
  • Use equipment in accordance with organisational procedures
  • Respond and react to instructions in a safe, correct and timely manner.

ELEMENTS OF COMPETENCY:

PUASAR002B/01 Prepare for road accident rescue
PUASAR002B/02 Establish and maintain rescue scene safety
PUASAR002B/03 Manage casualties
PUASAR002B/04 Remove casualties from entrapment
PUASAR002B/05 Conclude road accident rescue operations

ASSESSMENT:
Trainees learning outcomes will be assessed using direct observation, oral and/or written questions, and/or use of a workbook, and practical exercises as appropriate.

CERTIFICATION:
On successful completion of this Unit of Competency trainees will be issued with a Certificate in Attainment in PUASAR002B Undertake Road Accident Rescue. A Certificate of Training in Undertake Road Accident Rescue will be issued if relevant pre-requisites have not been achieved.

DELIVERY METHOD:
6 hours of classroom theory PowerPoint presentations, including audio-visual material, practical desktop activities and discussion.
10 hours of practical components using rescue equipment in a range of work simulated scenarios.
