DESCRIPTION:
Work Safely at Heights aims to provide the skills and knowledge required to apply safe working practices when working at height or depths. It includes identifying work requirements, work procedures, assessing and installing equipment, performing work at heights and cleaning of the work area.
CONTENT:
The underpinning knowledge requirement provided for this unit includes:
- The names and functions of equipment, components and materials including manufacturer’s instructions and specifications
- Safe shifting and handling of tools and materials
- Relevant statutory and regulatory authority requirements
- The nature of work undertaken a height
- Height safety systems
- Processes of providing for safe working practices.
- Safety equipment/systems and considerations to facilitate working safely at heights

DELIVERY METHOD:
3 hours of classroom theory PowerPoint presentations, including audio-visual material, practical desktop activities and discussion. 5 hours of practical components using specialised equipment in a range of work simulated scenarios.
