Common Safety Training Program - Recognised Prior Learning (CSTP RPL)

The Common Safety Training Program - Recognised Prior Learning is a challenge assessment being conducted to assist the oil and gas industry to meet the RPL requirements of CSTP. Industry defined observable behaviours form the basis for decisions about whether participants complete the off-the-job assessment satisfactorily.

Following successful completion of the program, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion which attests to there being evidence from the training organisation that the required knowledge and behaviours have been demonstrated. This information will be sent to APPEA as evidence of the worker’s engagement in the CSTP process.

DURATION:

1 day (plus on the job observation)

DESIGNED FOR:
The Common Safety Training Program - Recognised Prior Leaning has been designed to assess the knowledge and skills of participants in the off-the-job component of the CSTP in order for existing workers to meet the RPL requirements prior to on-the-job observations.

CONTENT:
This assessment includes the following:

  • Reasons for a Safety Case and Safety Management System;
  • Recognise the importance of and reasons for different work permit;
  • Comply with permit conditions;
  • Take appropriate action to resolve faults or report faults to appropriate personnel;
  • Explain and implement incident response procedures;
  • Identify hazards and assess risk ;
  • Initiate suggestions to enhance task/job-specific safety;
  • Follow procedures for risk control;
  • Follow emergency procedures;
  • Apply knowledge of OHS legislation and the organisation’s OHS policies and procedures; and
  • Evaluate, control and conclude minor incidents.

PREREQUISITES:

  • A minimum of two years employment in off-shore oil and gas industry of which one has been spent in the off-shore environment
  • Fire-extinguisher training

ASSESSMENT:
Trainees behavioural outcomes will be assessed using on and off-the-job demonstration, oral questioning, use of a workbook, role playing and practical exercises in an appropriate industrial scenario.
CERTIFICATION:
On successful completion of trainees will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for:

  • RIIRIS201A Conduct local risk Assessment
