Safe Supervisors Competence Program (SSCP)

Safe Supervisor Competence Program (SSCP) is aimed at Oil & Gas Industry leaders working on construction projects. It is designed to provide supervisors with the essential skills as a minimum standard of competency to ensure the safety of teams and individuals through effective supervision.

This course teaches supervisors how to use their existing skills, knowledge, judgements and abilities to supervise and lead by example through safe work behaviours. This training is carried out in a realistic replication of real life environment. Furthermore, it exercises supervisor’s hands on abilities to apply what they have learnt into the workplace.

The SSCP program covers on and off the job demonstrations, oral questioning, workbooks, role playing, group work and practical exercises conducted over a 3 day period.

The topics covered are:

  • Lead and develop safe teams 
  • Managing hazards and risks 
  • Managing safety 
  • Reporting and investigating incidents and initial emergency rescue 
  • Understanding and influencing safe behaviours 
Upon successful completion supervisors will be provided with a certificate stating the have completed the first stage of the SSCP process.

DURATION:
4 Days (plus a Workplace Appraisal)

DESIGNED TO:
The Safe Supervisors Competency Program has been designed by industry to help improve the safety behaviours of supervisors working in construction projects in an offshore oil and gas environment. The Project Oversight Group (POG) has established 5 Competencies deemed to be the minimum standard for supervisors. ERGT Australia has developed a training program to meet these outcomes which has been approved by the POG.

  • Understanding and influencing safe behaviours

DELIVERY METHOD:
Hands-on learning application, practical scenario activities in a simulated oil & gas workplace, classroom theory, group discussion and PowerPoint presentations.

ASSESSMENT:
Attendee’s behavioural outcomes will be assessed using on and off-the-job demonstration, oral questioning, use of a workbook, role-playing and practical exercises in appropriate industrial scenarios.

CERTIFICATION:
Upon successful completion of training, trainees will receive a certificate stating they have completed the first stage of the SSCP process.

There are no pre-requisites for this course.
