Tropical Further Offshore Emergency Training (TFOET)

HUET 1

This course is only applicable to participants who have a current TBOSIET card that is within four years of expiring. This course is designed to assist in maintaining participant’s skills that are required to respond effectively to offshore incidents. The course offers a highly practical, theory reduced opportunity to practice how to respond to a helicopter incident and all components of survival at sea including fire fighting, self rescue and first aid.

Note: Trainees are required to supply a completed medical clearance for the HUET component prior to starting the course, using the Medical Specification Form . The clearance must be completed within three months of the start of the course.

1 day.

DESIGNED FOR:
Tropical Further offshore Emergency Training  is designed to meet the further onshore safety and emergency response training and assessment requirements for personnel working in the offshore oil and gas industry in a warm water (tropical*) environment.

CONTENT:
It is essential that competence be demonstrated in all parts of the course:

Helicopter Safety and Escape

  • Donning an aviation life jacket
  • Actions in preparation for a helicopter ditching and emergency landing
  • Actions following a helicopter ditching and emergency landing

Fire Fighting and Self Rescue

  • Use of appropriate hand held portable fire extinguishers
  • Self-rescue techniques with a smoke hood

Emergency First Aid

  • Raising the alarm
  • Immediate first aid actions including DRABCD

ELEMENTS OF COMPETENCY:
In addition to the OPITO certification, this course also meets the requirements for the following National Units of Competency from the Chemical, Hydrocarbons and Oil Refining Training Package (PMA02)and the Asset Maintenance Training Package (PRM04). Successful completion of these Units of Competency will also be displayed on the certificate:

  • PMAOHS214B Undertake Helicopter Safety and Escape
  • MSAPMOHS212A Undertake First Response to Fire

PREREQUISITES:

Current certification in OPITO TBOSIET, TFOET, BOSIET or FOET.

 

ASSESSMENT:
Trainees will be assessed against the learning outcomes using direct observation and/or oral/written questions, and practical exercises as appropriate.

CERTIFICATION:
On successful completion trainees will be issued with a Statement of Attainment Tropical Further Offshore Emergency Training (TFOET), and a personalised TFOET identity card.

DELIVERY METHOD:

3 hours of classroom theory PowerPoint presentations, including audio-visual material, practical desktop activities and discussion.
5 hours of practical components using specialised equipment in a range of work simulated scenarios.
