This CPR course contains HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation which replaces HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation which expired on the 14th of October 2021.

ERGT Australia’s Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training course is designed for individuals who require basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation competency to undertake work roles in most industries and sectors. On completion of our CPR course trainees will be able to confidently deal with a first aid situation where the casualty is unconscious and not breathing, and to perform CPR in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines. This nationally recognised CPR training course is hosted at our training facilities in Perth, Darwin and Melbourne.

Learning Outcomes

The learning outcomes for this nationally recognised CPR training unit (HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation) are:

  • Respond to an emergency situation
  • Perform CPR procedures
  • Communicate details of the incident
  • Review the incident

Training Standard Pre-requisites
There are no training standard pre-requisites for this CPR course.

ERGT Desired Skills and Knowledge
In order for ERGT Australia to deliver the training and assessment in the timeframe specified for this course, it is recommended (but not mandatory) that trainees come to the course with a specific range of skills and knowledge of:

  • How to interpret and follow workplace procedures
  • How to complete written or verbal incident reports
  • The potential need for stress management following an emergency situation
  • Safe work practices to minimise risks and potential hazards
  • Hazard identification and reporting
  • Duty of care, respectful behaviour, privacy and confidentiality requirements

ERGT Australia have identified supporting courses that contribute to your ability to meet the desired skills and knowledge. These are the Common Safety Training Program (CSTP) or industry equivalent and a company induction.

Medical and Health Standards
A medical certificate is not required for the CPR course; however, a health questionnaire and declaration of fitness will be required at course registration. Please contact ERGT Australia for any concerns regarding completion of practical training and assessment requirements and to discuss options for reasonable adjustments.

Additional Requirements
A government issued photo identification and valid USI are required for course registration.

Structure and Assessment
This CPR course is delivered through presentations, group discussions, practical demonstrations, and role-playing exercises in both a classroom and simulated work/industry environment. Trainees will demonstrate their competence through a written assessment, a practical assessment, and verbal questions (when required). CPR courses are available in Victoria, Western Australia, and Northern Territory.

Skills Maintenance
The ARC recommends these skills are refreshed annually. Please see the ARC Guideline 10.1 for reference.
