DURATION:
2 days for up to two exercises offshore. Additional days would be required for additional exercises.
OBJECTIVE:
The exercises cover Incident Command, Incident Command Team roles and functions and allows the teams to experience a range of simulated exercises and scenarios in their own environment. This has proven to be a significant training and proficiency aid and allows the carryover of theory gained in the simulator to be transferred to the working setting in a controlled manner.
CONTENT:
A range of emergency scenarios will be provided to allow an appropriate exercise to be completed for a qualified OIM. Scenarios will be based around a major incident, chosen from:
• Well control incident
• Explosion and fire
• Accommodation fire
• Helicopter incident
• Pipeline incident
• Collision or wave damage causing structural collapse
• Loss of stability (mobile installations)
COMPETENCY:
ERGT Australia is an audited Registered Training organisation (RTO) to deliver and assess trainees against the competencies in the Chemical Hydrocarbon and Oil Refining Training package (PMA08). ERGT recommends that persons unfamiliar with the AQTF assessment process do not attempt offshore exercises without exposure to the simulator training and ideally all members of the team have had the opportunity to complete the training prior to the exercise.
METHOD:
On arrival at the asset a comprehensive exercise relevant to the current asset operations is developed, arrangements offshore and onshore confirmed to prevent unwarranted or non exercises related incidents, the exercise is conducted and debriefed with the team and then a formal report completed prior to leaving the facility. ERGT recommends offshore exercises are conducted regularly (at least 2 per annum) to complement the offshore drills and include contact with an onshore Incident Centre as part of the response.
