DURATION:
2 days for up to two appraisals for candidates. Additional days would be required for additional appraisals.
COURSE OBJECTIVE:
The course covers Emergency Command Training and allows course trainees to experience a number of simulated exercises on varying scenarios so that the assessor is able to appraise trainees’ preparedness to attain the OPITO OIM Controlling Emergencies Standard.
ASSESSMENT CONTENT:
A range of emergency scenarios will be provided to allow an appropriate appraisal to be completed by a qualified OIM. Scenarios will be based around a major incident, chosen from:
- Well control incident
- Explosion and fire
- Accommodation fire
- Helicopter incident
- Pipeline incident
- Collision or wave damage causing structural collapse
- Loss of stability (mobile installations)
COMPETENCY:
ERGT Australia is licensed and audited by the UK based, Offshore Petroleum Industry Training Organisation (OPITO) to deliver and assess trainees against the OIM Controlling Emergencies Standard. It is recommended that delegates have had experience as an Emergency Commander prior to attending an Appraisal program.
Support team members who may accompany Emergency Commanders being Appraised for preparedness to attain the OPITO Standard, will be simultaneously be trained to the PMA standard, PMAOMIR320B Manage Incident Response Information competency
METHOD OF TRAINING:
2 days of simulator training including practice sessions. Trainees who successfully complete this course will be issued with an Appraisal to the OPITO standard; OIM Controlling Emergencies.
