Responding to fire incidents offshore is a high risk task that requires specialist training. This course gives trainees the basic skills for assessing, controlling and extinguishing fires offshore, from donning PPE to basic rescue skills. Trainees will walk away with a sound knowledge and capability to control an incident and protect all persons involved.

DESIGNED FOR:
Fire Team Member Oil & Gas is designed for personnel who are required to work under supervision as member of fire team with authorisation to conduct external and internal fire fighting activities.

DESCRIPTION:
The main focus of this course is the delivery and assessment of PMAOHS213B Undertake fire control and emergency rescue. To achieve this, the course delivers and assesses knowledge and skills with MSAPMOHS212A Undertake first response to fire incidents and MSAPMOHS216A Operate breathing apparatus.

CONTENT:
To prepare participants for successful completion of assessment activities the following content is delivered:

  • Undertake first response to fire incidents
  • Undertake fire control and emergency rescue external to buildings and structures
  • Operate breathing apparatus for work tasks and emergency response
  • Undertake fire control and emergency rescue internal to buildings and structures

ELEMENTS OF COMPETENCY:
Refer to the information sheets of each respective competency for detail on elements of competency.

DELIVERY METHOD:
Integrated classroom theory PowerPoint presentations, including audio-visual material, practical desktop activities and discussion. Integrated practical components responding to a range of minor and major fire incidents.

ASSESSMENT:
Participants learning outcomes will be assessed using direct observation, oral and/or written questions, and/or use of a workbook, and practical exercises as appropriate.

CERTIFICATION:
On successful completion of all assessments participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment in:

  • PMAOHS213B Undertake Fire Control and Emergency Rescue
  • MSAPMOHS212A Undertake first response to fire incidents
  • MSAPMOHS216A Operate breathing apparatus
