Lead Emergency Teams

LET (ERTL)

This unit of competency is designed to allow a participant to lead and co-ordinate an emergency response team, including deployment of resources at the scene of an emergency. Personnel undertaking this unit of competency would be normally nominated to assume the responsibility of emergency team leader.

DESIGNED FOR:
Personnel who normally operate or are based permanently on an onshore or offshore installation or facility and lead an emergency response team.

CONTENT:
To prepare participants for successful completion of assessment activities the following content is delivered:

  • Leading a Team
  • Emergency Response Team Leader Duties, Responsibilities and Tasks
  • Hazard Identification, Assessment and Control of Risk
  • Fire Fighting Operations
  • Considerations for Team Welfare

ELEMENTS OF COMPETENCY:

  • PMAOHS311B/01 Assess the nature and extent of the emergency
  • PMAOHS311B/02 Effect rescue of personnel at risk
  • PMAOHS311B/03 Confine the spread of emergency
DELIVERY METHOD:
8 hours of classroom theory PowerPoint presentations, including audio-visual material, desktop activities and discussion. 16 hours of practical components using fire-fighting equipment in a range of simulated emergency response scenarios.



ASSESSMENT:

Participant’s learning outcomes will be assessed using direct observation, oral and/or written questions, and/or use of a workbook, and practical exercises as appropriate.

CERTIFICATION:
On successful completion of this unit of competency Participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment in PMAOHS311B Lead Emergency Teams.

Note: Participants unable to meet course pre-requisites will only be issued with a Certificate of Training and will be unable to participate in some practical scenarios.

  • PUAFIR207B – Operate breathing apparatus open circuit or PMAOHS216B – Operate breathing apparatus self contained breathing apparatus
  • MSAPMAOHS212A – Undertake first response to fire
  • PMAOHS213B – Fire control and emergency rescue
