Undertake Road Accident Rescue (URAR)

PUASAR002B

This unit of competency allows personnel to undertake road accident rescue operations as a member of a rescue team.

DURATION: 
2 days.

CONTENT:
It is essential that competence be demonstrated throughout the duration of the course:

  • Vehicle construction and dangers in cutting vehicle parts and panels
  • Legal requirements of responders
  • Apply safe work practices in rescue operations
  • Use equipment in accordance with organisational procedures
  • Respond and react to instructions in a safe, correct and timely manner.
ELEMENTS OF COMPETENCY:
  • PUASAR002B/01 Prepare for road accident rescue
  • PUASAR002B/02 Establish and maintain rescue scene safety
  • PUASAR002B/03 Manage casualties
  • PUASAR002B/04 Remove casualties from entrapment
  • PUASAR002B/05 Conclude road accident rescue operations
DELIVERY METHOD:
6 hours of classroom theory PowerPoint presentations, including audio-visual material, practical desktop activities and discussion. 10 hours of practical components using rescue equipment in a range of work simulated scenarios.

ASSESSMENT: 
Trainees learning outcomes will be assessed using direct observation, oral and/or written questions, and/or use of a workbook, and practical exercises as appropriate.

CERTIFICATION: 
On successful completion of this Unit of Competency trainees will be issued with a Certificate in Attainment in PUASAR002B Undertake Road Accident Rescue.

PRE-REQUISITES:
  • PUASAR001B Participate in rescue operations (co delivered with the course)
  • PUAEME002C Manage Injuries at emergency incident (can be met with HLTFA301A Apply First Aid)
