ERGT Australia has launched Australia’s only dedicated oil and gas safety training centre to an audience of key industry personnel.
The event included presentations by the Hon. Federal Minister for Resources & Energy, Martin Ferguson, Chevron Australia’s Managing Director, Roy Krzywosinski, Apache Energy’s Deputy Managing Director, Warren Ford and APPEA’s CEO, David Byers.
ERGT – already Australia’s biggest provider of safety training to the LNG industry – designed and built the $18 million centre to facilitate the unprecedented demand for a safe and competent workforce as the boom in offshore oil and gas development gathers pace.

The centre replicates an oil and gas facility to deliver the now mandatory Common Safety Training Program (CSTP) certification required for offshore work, the Safe Supervisor Competence Program (SSCP), and more than 40 other safety courses.
Industry heavyweights, who have in some cases undertaken training at the new centre, lauded it as a step-change in the delivery of safety skills training.
“It is incumbent upon us to demand the highest safety standards – but also to equip our people with the best tools possible to develop and demonstrate the right safety behaviours and to strengthen our safety culture,” Chevron Australia’s Managing Director, Roy Krzywosinski, told the Opening.
